The BenQ W1210ST gaming projector is mostly designed for gamers who want something bigger than an average monitor. Compared to other projectors, its low input lag makes it suitable for casual gaming. The ‘ST’ in the projector name stands for a short-throw. From only about 1.7 meters away from my wall, I could get around a 110-inch screen.

Build Quality
This projector has a 1 contrast ratio, meaning you’ll get some beautiful images along with intense blacks. As you can see, the projector is being used in my messy studio; however, this is the only white wall in the entire building. I would recommend using a projector screen rather than just a plain wall for better image quality.
The W1210ST is a pretty large projector for more casual use; however, it can still function well. Even though the projector is quite large, it is made up for through its aesthetically pleasing gloss white and matte silver exterior with curved edges, which fits perfectly with the theme of my studio. It also comes with a lens cover making it less likely for damage to occur when moving it.
The projector also comes with a handy remote control for basic settings, e.g., volume, power on and off, and brightness adjustment. These buttons are backlit in red, making it easier to see buttons in a dark room.
I/O
IO wise, the projector is well equipped with 2x HDMI ports, a Type-A USB port and audio in & out port.
There are also 2x 10W speakers which I found to be very loud and clear however, they lacked bass. I would recommend getting a sound bar or some sort of external speakers.
The setup of the projector was straightforward, It’s not a smart projector so will need external input. The projector is also integrated with a focus and zoom wheel, which can provide huge images from a short distance away.
There isn’t any vertical image shifting, so it did take me a few minutes to adjust the drop-down leg at the back of the projector and some keystone correction to get the perfect image which is fine.
A series of picture settings are available in the projector itself, but my personal favourite is the game pre-set. BenQ carefully calibrates these settings, and you can see a clear difference when the setting is changed. When playing games, you need to turn on ‘fast mode’ on the menu settings of the projector. This does a superb job of reducing input lag and response times.
Pros
Low Input Lag
Good contrast and colour accuracy
Strong gaming and media performance
Cons
Releases much heat
Some elevated noise
Little DLP rainbow effect
